Photography Vs. Videography
When was the last time a photograph talked to you?  While photos capture moments in time, video allows you to record time in motion -- with all the sounds that will bring back memories that pictures cannot.  A video allows you to relive memories in motion of your special day forever!  Your Wedding DVD will allow you and your family to relive these priceless live, moving moments for generations to come!

Shooting and Editing
You cannot edit what was not captured.  Positioning, camera angles, lighting and sound all come with experience.  Assuming the videographer gets adequate footage, most clients say that editing is more important to the final product.  Not all good videographers are good editors and creative digital editing is what matters most.  Today’s software programs are amazing for creating, correcting, and improving digital video but require a lot of time and experience to use.  Editing can be as simple as removing unnecessary footage, but in the hands of a creative and talented editor, your finished wedding video will be a memorable one and something to cherish.  It’s not always what you shoot that counts, but how you present it.  Generally, 10 hours of editing is required per each attended hour.  Since we typically tape 4 to 6 hours of video per event, your finished video could take up to 60 hours of editing!  Many studios aren't willing to put that amount of time into it, but it’s that extra time that makes Karlyn Studios unique.

Multi-Camera — Does it Matter?
A most important decision, if you are serious about getting a truly professional DVD, is to use more than one camera.  Using two or more cameras has major advantages and help to get the polished results and emotion-provoking keepsake that you deserve.  If an inevitable obstruction or guest gets in the way, the second camera can still capture the moment.

Demo Viewing Tips
It's a good idea to view completed DVDs, not just pre-selected, polished highlights from demo DVD's and websites.  During a wedding ceremony, look for the classic shots, close-ups, steady pans, zooms and clean edits that look and sound well.  Watch for good color balance and clarity, multiple camera positions and angles that compose well, capturing not just the bride and groom, but the weather, church, guests and wedding party as well.

Selecting a Videographer and Photographer
When selecting a photographer and a videographer, be sure to spend a fair amount of time with each candidate to make sure that you like the individuals that you select and share common ideals.  The communication between the two (and yourselves!) is important.  You do not want each other in important shots.  Both should be talented professionals who understand these issues and try to accommodate each other.  We suggest a combined planning meeting with the photographer and videographer four to six weeks before the ceremony.

Why Consider Karlyn Studios?
We stay until the very end of the reception or when the Bride and Groom depart.  Some of the most memorable reception footage that we have captured has been shot towards the end of the evening.
We attend your rehearsal.  We always attend your rehearsal for planning purposes as we don't want any surprises!  Also, if you would want us to shoot the rehearsal dinner, we would be happy to cover it for a nominal additional charge.  Some of the more memorable and emotional scenes and speeches occur at rehearsal dinners.
Karlyn Studios is a proud member of NOVA (Northern Ohio Videographer's Association).  Make sure that you select videographers who invest in themselves to keep up with the latest technology and video editing techniques.  Being a member of an Association provides you with coverage assurance from a vast network of dedicated, experienced videographers.
Multi-camera ceremony coverage.  Undoubtedly, there will be a scene where someone or something inadvertently obscures the view.  Having multiple cameras and angles ensure complete coverage and helps to make your video look professional and polished.  Also, since some facilities & churches do not allow videographers and photographers 'up front', if a 3rd or 4th camera is required to adequately cover the ceremony, we will do so!  Our reputation relies on your satisfaction and referrals!
*  Two-camera reception coverage.  Before you decide to settle for someone who may offer one camera reception coverage, make sure you view multi-camera reception footage to see the difference!
Satisfied Customers.  Make sure to visit our 'Testimonials' page.  Every wedding video we have produced has resulted in other contracts from members of the wedding party or a friend or relative who has viewed our productions.  We cannot afford to have a dissatisfied Customer and will do everything within our power to ensure your complete satisfaction!
